The Earth is a vibrant living place of incredible natural wonders and captivating stories. Its majestic mountain ranges reach high into the sky—all the way up to the exosphere, the outermost layer of the atmosphere. Its endless oceans reflect the calm of our skies. (In the oceans, seas, and the Sargasso Sea, we don't know how many stories there are to tell.) The planet's mountain ranges, white-headed with snow, and its clear-blue lakes invite us to explore and respect the beauty of its natural landscape.
Every part of the Earth tells a different, yet equally intriguing, story. The geological wonders found in every locale hark back to a locale’s unique slice of history and remind us of the planet’s ever-changing face. Earth’s diverse life forms—from the wildest of ecosystems to the tiniest in the laboratory—whisper, and sometimes shout, the sweet and bitter lessons of resilience and of the harmony that somehow holds everything together. All of this science unravels the ancient and modern mysteries of our home planet and, in part, informs us why we are so taken by Earth.
Moving ahead, we adopt sustainable practices and innovative solutions. In doing so, we pay tribute to the magnificent planet bequeathed to us. Let this post act as both a salute to Earth’s resplendent beauty and a reminder that protecting the lovely abode we all share is a collective responsibility.
Join us in a virtual version of Earth Day as we salute the natural world.
